Miscellaneous
Smokers Beware!
Please do not smoke in the yard across the street. The police were contacted and the officer called wanting to let everyone know that you can not smoke on others’ property.
Also, as the weather gets colder and snowier, you need to be on the look out for sliding vehicles. Standing on the road is not safe and even worse when there is ice. Watch Out!
A Reminder About Food and Drinks!
Please do not have any type of liquid drink or food near the computers or on the floor in the computer labs or the Karre Library. The college does not have money to waste on buying new computers and replacing carpet if it is damaged by rules being broken and carelessness. Please do not bring your beverages in the computer labs to keep accidents from happening. Just a reminder, food and drinks in the classroom is completely up to the professor. Don’t assume you can bring in snacks and drinks into every class. We have a fine Student Lounge - Use it!
Did You Lose What We Found?
Are you missing something? Check out the Lost and Found. Items that were turned in can be retrieved from the receptionist’s desk in Enrollment Services. Or if you are missing a jump drive, it might be found in Room 419. Hurry up and claim your goodies before the semester ends; otherwise, they will be donated or disposed of!
Know the Campus Weather Shelters
Everyone should be aware of the shelter areas on campus in case bad weather occurs while students are on campus.
No matter where you are, there is a restroom close, so let that be your first choice for shelter:
Adkins Hall: the Computer/Electrical 104 is the place designated for shelter.
Barr-Wittenmyer Hall: the food preparation room, storeroom, phone equipment room, and boiler room are available.
Gardner Hall: the mechanical room along with the storeroom is a shelter.
Emeritus Hall: storage, nursing storage, and the nursing offices are good shelter areas
Bowles Hall: Room 521, the chemistry and the physics storerooms, the biology prep room and the boiler room can be used.
The signal for a tornado will be intermittent blasts on the fire alarm. The fire signal is a continuous horn sound. Next to every room doorway is a placard with the escape routes and shelter areas marked in orange. Don’t panic; keep your head in an emergency!
