IMS Volleyball Falls to Mediapolis Mediapolis scored a big early-season conference win, defeating IMS 3-1 in Mediapolis Thursday night. The senior-dominated Bullettes, picked to win the league, took the match by scores of 15-5,13-15,15-4,15-11. IMS Coach Dwight Gingerich said, "it was a great match, with great crowd support for both teams, for the first match of the season. We saw some good things, but obviously there are a lot of things we must address. It's probably unfortunate this one had to be played so early, but at the same time it will help us improve more quickly." After Mediapolis won the first game, IMS came back to lead 11-5 in Game 2. The Bullettes mounted a comeback but an Amanda Skow ace secured the win for IMS. Mediapolis controlled Game 3 and IMS appeared on the verge of knotting things in Game 4, again taking an early lead of 10-4. The lead slowly evaporated and the Bullettes tied things up at 11 before pulling away to notch the win. Key errors coupled with strong play by the home team accounted for the loss. |
