MELISSA NAVNTOFT- HEAD COACH

Coach Melissa Navntoft is entering her 6th season as Head Coach of the SCC Softball Team.  Navntoft brings a career record of 156-119.  In her 2nd season the BlackHawk’s finished with a 39-6 record, most wins in school history, 2nd place conference finish and led the BlackHawk’s to a NJCAA Division II National Championship.  After winning the National Title in 2003, the Blackhawk’s then went Division I.  In her 5th season the BlackHawk’s finished with a 43-14 record, 1st place conference finish and a National appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament where the Blackhawk’s finished 7th place.   Coach Navntoft is a native of Burlington, Iowa earning all-state honors her senior year. Melissa began her college career at the University of Northern Iowa.  While attending UNI, Melissa was a member of the softball team.  Upon finishing her softball career at UNI, Melissa transferred to Western Illinois where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts.

       ZULEYMA CIRIMELE-ASSISTANT COACH
 

4th season as Assistant Coach.Coach Cirimele graduated from the Universidad Pedagogica Experimental in Venezuela in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. In 2002-2003 Coach Cirimele continued her college career earning her Associate of Arts Degree from Southeastern Community College.
While attending SCC Cirimele was the starting catcher where they posted a 2nd place conference finish and was a part of the National Championship team. Cirimele was a first team All-Region pick and was also selected as a member of the 2003 National All-Tournament Team. Coach Cirimele is native of San Mateo,
Venezuela. Cirimele is also a member of the Senior Venezuela Softball National Team who will be competing in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Zuleyma is a recipient of “Athlete of the year” in her country by the National Softball Federation and by the Aragua State Association.
